I've been in a relationship for the past 10yrs. We were monogamous and didn't use condoms. 3 months ago we separated and i started seeing someone new. We started off using protection but that ended quick. I started noticing lesions on my penis with swollen glands in my groin. I went to the Dr today and you guessed he looked at me and you have genital herpes. He didn't do a blood test . My question is should I get an second opinion or just accept it and be depressed??????
He should have tested the legions, I also heard that a Dr can tell if you have herpes just by looking at the legion
He should have tested the lesions. Not all doctors can tell by looking at them. My doctor looked at mine and said this is definitely not herpetic and just looks like irritation. I had her swab it to make sure. Sure enough, came back positive!
Would it be ok to ask what we're some of your symptoms. Did you have severe pain or tingling in the groin or testicles before the lesions?
I went to the doctors the day after I noticed the lesions. I did not experience other symptoms until after they were cultured. I had nerve pain in my pelvic area (I’m a female so like where you would normally feel period cramps) and in my groin/upper thigh area. Those were more painful than the lesion itself.
Dr should have def tested you right away. Also make sure to take anti virals right away when outbreak as i was told not to wait!
The lesions just popped up my pelvic started hurting. My right lymph node in my groin started hurting bad then my left started hurting a little. It never hurt to pee I never experienced any flu symptoms
