im going to have vats procedure after one week due to recurrent pneumothorax (twice in same side)...there is any advice?there ispain after procedure?

anyone help me about the duration of pain if there is after procedure ....i read to many negative comments about the pain after the procedure...any positive one??? :S

To be honest I have had 2 Vats and a pleurectomy and can asure you the pain is controlled by pain killers ie morphine... I don't like pain but rest in the comfort that the problem is being sorted out. Last thing you want is a tension pneumothorax!

i already had tension pneumothorax....all what i want to know that if the pain stay for long period

my procedure in 3/04/2014 after one week and i have final medicine exam on 9/05 i dont want anything may effect on my study

I had my op early last December and was out partying new years Eve.... You should be fine. That was a pleurectomy... Vats are even less complicated

I am in America. but I am sure the treatment methods are the same all over the world. My pain was well managed by narcotics. I had an epidural with a little button that I pushed when I needed it and the precious meds went to work within seconds. But Jonathon123 is correct, the VATS is not too bad.
