I'm just confused right now

I started using 25mg levothyroxine 2 months ago.

I lost hair in the shower but not really much(before using levo).

Now my hair is shredding quite a bit. My TSH level was 1.32 when I started using the medication.

alright, so today I asked a dermatologist on justanswer.com

I was talking about the issues i have with my hair loss.

And when I mentioned my TSH level, he said stop taking levothyroxine right now.

He said I most likely have hyperthyroidism. I said the normal TSH range here in Norway is 0.5 - 1.5. He then gave me a link to some article about the normal TSH range 0.5 - 5 that I should show my doctor. I asked what do you consider a good TSH level, he said a "good" one would be 2.5

Ok so my question is.. Should I trust this guy. Is my doctor in Norway using an old TSH system? If I ask my doctor about getting my TSH level to 2.5 he will probably say that's out of the question.

I should note that I also have celiac disease, my doctor said I have low metabolism.

I've been on a gluten free diet for 2 months now.

I am curious as to why you posted to a hyperthyroidism Board when you are taking levothyroxine.  Levothyroxine is usually given for HYPOthyroidism.  Labs differ in their ranges for normal around the world however,I have never heard of the range you posted in Norway for thyroid lab values.  I don't like my TSH at 2.5.  I am happy with it between 1.0 and 1.5 and the ranges in my lab are from 0.70 to 4.00.  My cousin had her thyroid removed because of thyroid cancer and she was on a high dose of Levo because she did not feel good.  From what I have heard from patients like her who have lost their thyroid, that once your thyroid is gone, that Levo just doesn't cut it in making you feel normal again.

Curious too. Your given normal range was probably a typo or mistaken hearing... since your TSH is normal, they probably didn't test your T4 T3? Wonder what are those numbers?  However, I couldn't understand why you were given Levo which is for hypo patients. Do you or did you suffer other symptoms other than hair loss? Let us know your whole condition/history for further comments.
