I was diagnosed with HSV-1 genitally about a year ago and am now experiencing my second outbreak. My prescription of valacyclovir is a expired by a few months and the dosage is 500mg twice a day for 3 days. It’s going on day three and while I don’t have any more outbreaks, but the ones that I do seem to not be healing or are getting worse. For example I went from having a sore yesterday to my whole labia minora being completely swollen and irritated. Just wondering if this is normal, or if anyone has experienced symptoms after they’re done with their rX. (I called in a new prescription going to try another round incase the potency of my expired one is low). Any words of wisdom would be much appreciated.I was diagnosed with HSV-1 genitally about a year ago and am now experiencing my second outbreak. Try peroxide on the area. It dries out the outbreak. Also perhaps take L lysine and lemon balm.
Sounds a little painful but I'll give it a shot. Thanks!
I would soak your bits in a basin/tub of Epsom salts rather than use peroxide. Same drying effect without the harsh chemicals. Loads of people swear by Epsom salts (soothing as well) and it is suggested by herpes specialist Terri Warren (but not peroxide, incidentally).
