I have been on Sertraline 50mg for 4 weeks and don't know what dose I should take for my anxiety...any ideas? Thanks
I suppose the first question is how are you feeling now compared to before do you feel like the medication is working ?
Presumably your Doc has started you on this? Anyway, you probably need to give it a couple more weeks and assess where you are compared to where you 'were' before you started. from what I've read on these discussions, almost everyone seems to need differing amounts. My dose is 50mg and I'm on day 21 and tabout feeling the benefit (is there a benefit or is it just my head being numbed?)
If you have the resources to complement your meds with other help such as talking therapy or Hypnotherapy and perhaps Counselling, then do try that.
In my opinion, only a GP/health professional can tell you what dose you need.
All the best and hang in there as Sert can take some time to level you out.
Every person’s condition is different so each person’s dose should be right for that person. So really, the correct dose should help you with your anxiety such that you feel like your normal self. 25mg and 50mg are very low doses to help you titrate to your correct dose. I’ve been told that the doses are 100mg, 150mg and 200mg, and other doses like 25mg and 50mg are really for titration purposes of increasing or lowering your dose. I am currently been on 100mg. Been at 150mg before and 12.5mg, too. Take care.
