Hello everyone. I’m 26 years old and I’m pretty positive I have an Inguinal hernia on the left side of my groin. It aches with a dull pain in my groin/testicle area. I’ve met with my primary care physician assistant and she’s sending me to a specialist to get a better look. I’m terrified I may need a hernia repair... I’m worried on all aspects. The surgery itself and aftermath. Use of Anesthesia makes my stomach turn and am afraid something may go wrong with the surgery. Hoping someone that has gone through this process can give me some comfort if I do have to have this procedure. Thank you
I had a double inguinal hernia repair two years ago. The surgery itself went well, as I had no problem with the anesthesia- however, to this day I still have occasional pelvic floor pain. Recent scans have shown that the surgery was successful and done accurately. So why is there pain? It seems to be pelvic floor tightness which affects the groin and overall pelvic areas. I would carefully investigate all options - even those not using a mesh repair. Keep us posted. All best wishes.

Hey Ryan, I had inguinal hernia surgery on June 6, I only had a sharp pain once in awhile but I had a like a round ball like bulge which I could push back in, I didn’t want to be put under so I got a local anesthetic and a sedative, it had a pain after but nothing really bad, they give me pain killers but I only used I think 4 of them over the first 2 days, it is now 4 months later and it’s pretty good. Over the first couple of weeks I had pain but nothing terrible.

It's not as bad as you're thinking. I had bilateral inguinal surgery (laparoscopic) and the surgery went smoothly, the recovery was fast, and I was out playing golf in under 3-weeks.
One thing to do when you show up for your surgery is to let them know that you are very nervous about the surgery. I was nervous and worried as you are, and after I let them know, they gave my some wonderful drugs that took away my fears and nervousness.
Good luck, I'm sure it will go well for you. I think it's one of the most common surgeries performed.
Thank you everyone for your responses. I met with a surgeon and said he doesn’t feel necessary at this time. Great news of course, but the days since I have still have been experiencing soreness and inflammation in my left testicle.. I’ve had a physical done by my primary and surgeon for hernia and come back as nothing. Any ideas why I could be feeling this sensation? Is it normal?
hey guys, I have inguinal hernia repair soon. I’m 47 and nervous. in my 20s I had one above my belly. this time I’m just scares. the needles for the IV, the covid swab, and then the stitches after.
mainly the needles. also not sure about long qtip going up my nose for c19 test. guessing it won’t be so bad but I can’t smoke any cigs after midnight the night before. surgery is at 730am.
I asked for anxiety medicine. we shall see. just worried about needles and swab
