I'm so glad I found this forum!

One thing great about all the modern technology is that there are forums for just about any problem you may have.  It really helps with that alone feeling. Thanks to all that have commented

You are very, very welcome it is a chance for us to give back for all the support we have received and 'a problem shared is much lighter'.

Big hugs to you.

L

Thank you

Hi there.

I love this too! I didn't know anyone that had a hip replacement done before but now I know lots, I didn't know what to expect but people on this have told me, now i will be 4 weeks on Monday from my right hip replacement.

All the best Megan

thanks Linda I'm 62 an I feel like I'm falling apart. I ignored the pain for too long but I can't go back. I now have this frozen shoulder pain I don't know what's going on. I've always been so healthy but I'm grateful I know it could be a lot worse

I Agree,  knowing I am not the only one going through post op from THR is reassuring.  I am one month out to the day.  I can't figure out why when I walk I feel a catch on the replacement side.  its almost as if it shortens my stride.  I have been very aware of my stride, making sure I complete it evenly, with the same bend in the knee etc.  Im thinking it must be muscular or ligature related and they just haven't strengthened yet.  I was hoping by now to be back to hiking, or at least walking a few miles.

You're so right on that! I felt so alone when I had mine done-wish I'd known this place....but I do now! And hopefully I can give some advice to a newly suffering hippie! X

One thing at a time ... although if you find a good physiotherapist and RMT they will sort you out! I developed a frozen shoulder after 10 weeks in a cast due to a bad fall and they worked wonders on me in about 5 sessions. And they kept me sane pre-thr as I am allergic to many anti-inflammatories and pain meds. Look for Dorothy 04749's recent post about deep tissue massage - so funny.

Take care,

L

Thanks linda38528. Do I have to spell out the whole nickname or can I write just L

Thanks Kizzykizzy

Yaaaay! Nearly 4weeks! I found it went either really quickly or the time just CRAWLED.It all depends on your mental attitude.Mix with cheery people and your journey will be much more tolerable and you will have a laugh in this forum-and I totally believe that laughter IS the best medicine! Keep smiling.😜Jo.x

I can't believe it's been almost 4 weeks it's flew in for me, it seems like I just got it done lol. Thank-you for your comment. Yeah my family are keeping me busy! Soon I'll be hopefully back to normal till my left hip replacement!

Hope your well☺️

L is just fine 😄!

Dear M1954,

I agree -- this forum is awesome and has been a life savior for me - still is -

You are or will do the same - there are not many, if any, non-hippies who can relate to what we are going through - heck, we don't even know ourselves - we have this horrible, all consuming pain (which we are in denial about and try to hide), then get the diagnosis and have to make a decision to get a total hip replacement -

so clueless I was (found this forum 20 days post-op from 1st THR) -

Then after surgery you are on your own - I literally was - (live alone in a very rural area) - only remembering all those stories about people who were fit as a fiddle after 2 - 3 weeks tops and rode their bikes to work (I live in Holland at the moment) against gale force winds and rains - not me !!!!

so here I found my group -

big warm hug

renee
