I had neck femur fixation by DHs. This is due to i fell down badly in the toilet. It was done on March 2.I discharge for after 5 days. After one week from discharge i didnt take any pain killer because pain is bearable. Now im on 5 weeks still on crutches and my next appointment is on April 16 but i notice my foot is bigger than the other foot non surgical. I search in the internet and ive found lymphedema. Is it correct? Is there anybody who have this kind of experience? My hip surgery site is healed and no edema only the foot ive noticed. I have mild pain with certain leg movemen but sitting and lying down has no pain. Do i have normal recovery because im worried that during weight bearing might be unbearable. As you know neck femur is complicated one. I do regular non weight bearing exercise and it is tolerable. Hopefully i have normal recovery cos i feel bored like this and i want to go back to work.
Lymphedema happens after removal of lymph nodes for cancer. Swelling in the foot and leg on the operated side is common. And it lasts a long time. Try propping your foot when you lie down so your foot is higher than your heart. It helps quite a bit.
Sorry, no edit option on the post and I wasn't clear. If you didn't have any lymph nodes removed you don't have lymphedema. You have normal post-surgery swelling.
