hello im 24 male and have had stomach problems for the past 3/4 years on and off with constipation and diorreah i dont get severe pains in stomach rather just an uncomfterble feeling also i sometimes get fresh blood and mucus though thankfully not very often.
my question is could this be IBS? after 3/4 years of this happening i decideed to go to the doctors he felt my tummy said everything was fine examined my rectum said everything was great (but the perscribed me with hemmoroid cream) so could he be lying? also i im booked in to give a stool sample and for my bloods to be taken and sent away for testing anyone have any idea what they will test it for?
sorry if i dont make sense just super worried and the internet keeps saying colon cancer so extremely worried as i have 2 young childeren and the thought of it being serious frightings me.
Ok I am no expert and can only go by my own experiences. Understandably your worried and your mind will be in over drive trying to work out what is going on.
Yes sounds like IBS but there are a lot of different gut issues and only by testing will you get the answers you need. I use cream on and off as can get very sore during bowel movements and this eased it up.
Bloods tested to check various levels in your body, I always ask what they are looking for, it's common to check liver, kidney and others. It's like a check list on an mot for a car, just it's the human body. Stool samples can tell an awful lot as bout we hats going on so that's a normal thing to have done. Better to be checked cc ked over than not. Cancer is what we all jump to thinking, but don't go over thinking. Your doctor would get a colonoscopy done if he was concerned. Just take it a step at a time. Stressing will not help. Try to do some relaxing. The internet is great for information but sometimes we can go too deep with what we read. check out IBS on the forum search. Hope this helps you
I don't think your doctor is lying. Don't know much about IBS but I do know someone who has it and it is manageable. Don't believe everything the internet says, it can be very confusing. I think if it was was anything really serious your doctor would have picked up on it.
You could, try calcium suppliments, 2 pills of vitamin d3 1200 mg a day. Also eat 2 tums, and your diahreh will lessin. That's what I do. For the blood mix up some benefiber. Or take benefiber pills. Cut out milk and see if the diarahh stops
Hi Michael. im 22 and have ibs but i made sure i had all the correct tests done before i was satisfied. if you are worried dont stop pushing the doctors until they are certain. mucus in the stool is common for ibs but not fresh blood. fresh blood could be caused from to much straining but i would get all the relevant tests until your happy. dont worry tho its very very unlikely its colon cancer. dont believe what you read on the internet as there is so much speculation you will try and self diagnose. bloods is to test for any idications of disease such as crohns, ceoliac disease, gauhl stones or any unusuall activity. try oil of peppermint tablets for the uncomfortable feeling. i swear by them and there herbal. hope this helps!!
thanks for your help i think once the bloods come back and i go see the doctor that i'm going to push him for a Colonoscopy just to be sure.
He did mention he thought i could be Celiac and it might be the gluten in the foods as after feeling my stomach he felt no lumps and it wasnt sensitive or swollen and said the same about the rectum exam that it was perfect so hopefully it's nothing serious
so had my stool test back which came back that i had Bacteria in my stool what could that be if anyone knows?
my blood test were great apart from him saying my liver was 'high' so he booked me in to see the doctor on Monday so do you guys know why they could be high? on the phone i asked if it was life threatning and he said no 'no cancers nothing like that' my question is he can't say that today then i go in monday for him to say you have cancer can he?
super worried any help would be appreciated guys and gals
Update again high guys bloods came back fine liver markers were slightly high but nothing concerning at the minute! scary story though
so it had been 5 days since my blood's and i heard nothing and rang my GP was told the doctor would need to give me a call back so that was scary as it normally means something aint right so he rang me explained i had a lot of bacteria in my stool and my liver markers were up slightly but everything else was fine no crohns,no celiac disease or anemia so i asked you know is there anything life threatning i was worrried becasue this is not my normal doctor it's just the duty doctor so i asked if it was life threatning which he said and i quote here 'nope there is no cancers nothing like that' so quick question does that mean they checked my bloods for cancerous cells?.
anyways went to the doctor i have a stomach bug called H-Pylori it's nothing life threatning he mentioned 7/10 people have it in the uk and most dont know and never get any symptoms in as little as 1% of cases it turns into Stomach cancer but it's extremeley rare.
