Immunity?

Hey guys

I have dah hsv type 1 for 4 years. I was just wondering if you get immun to the rest of your body for that type of herpes?

Does that mean that you cannot get hsv1 in your private area? So if you have hsv type 1 on your mouth and your partner has hsv1 on the private area, he cannot transmit hsv1 to MY private area because i alreday have the hsv type 1?

I have no idea

Yes, since you've had Type 1 for a while already, you should be immune from getting it elsewhere. It is still nevertheless good practice to avoid contact with active outbreaks in others. Fyi, you are not immune from Type 2.

okay thanks!

Okay. But what if you only had for 2 or 3 years?

That's okay. It's only a problem when you've not had it long enough, like under 4 months. After 4 months, you should have and maintain full antibody production.

Is this someting that sientece have proven?

The reason why the IgG antibody test for herpes shouldn't be done before 3 months is due to potentially undetectable antibodies caused by insufficient production. By 3 months, it should be readily detectable, and by 4 months at full production levels, hence immunity from same-type infections elsewhere. I am not sure if specific studies have been done on the immunity aspect, but that is what the leading herpes experts say, although you are still advised to avoid contact with active lesions as a precaution (as with most things, exceptions may sometimes exist). Incidentally, I see that the cure thread you also commented on is now gone!

Okay

My ex bf had a sore on his penis and we had sex unknowing this was herpes. We found out after that ut was hsv1.

I have had hsv1 on my mouth for 2-3 years already. Should i be worried?

Umm yes! it can be type 2 herpes

No he got tested. It was type 1

Remain vigilant for genital symptoms in the 2-3 weeks after you had sex when he had the sore, but I reckon you should be fine. Perhaps you unknowingly gave it to him through oral sex!

I washed myself with soap after we Saw the sore and I had a bad reaction which my docter said Was yeast infection so I got treated for that.

And yes I did give it to him through oral sex

I was just wondering if I could be infected in my genital area as well..

I doubt it, but stay alert for any possible symptoms 2-3 weeks afterwards as a precaution. You should be fine, though. It's not common to get it elsewhere once you have an established infection at one site.

Hi.......look...nothing is a proven fact when it comes to viruses!!!  Doctors do not have a proven fct on viruses other  than statistics.  But what you do have to understand is that when you have your breakouts or you feel it is coming on......take all precautions......avoid oral sex and kissing in that moment of out break.  However keep in mind......genital herpes and cold soars are way two different type of viruses!  Get toknow yur own body...there are also medications to conrol the out breaks ahead of time...like I said take all precautions....and do your own research as best as you can....you might learn more than what the Doctors will ever know!

I am glad. Through 2 years i have had constant itching and went to the docters sooo many times always says its not herpes and tests for it but always comes back negative. This is swabs. The last 5 months i felt stinging and burning as Well. Went to see the docter and he said it Was not herpes and took a Swab. Came back negative. Later i has bump on the pubic area and he said again its not herpes. Took a swab came back negative. Im seeing a specialist in Two weeks. Its just making me concerned. I have had vulvodyni for 6 years and had a lot of Yeast infections but yeah we Will see what the docters say.

But How Can they know you are immun if they did not Like test on it?

I just dont know if it is herpes or not

With all of those symptoms yet continued negative swabs, I think it's safe to say that whatever is causing you problems down below is not herpes. You have had a bump swabbed, swabs done when you've felt symptoms, but always negative. I would not worry.

Okay.. For How long have you had herpes?

Coming up to a year, Type 2...

Im Sorry.. It Really sucks!

How often Do you have an outbreak?

Do you know if you could have symptoms constantly? Like itching, stigning and pain?
