I've started to see a massive massive improvement in my symptoms, just 2 flare ups in the last 15 days compared to almost daily issues before. I've got a new less stressful job which I guess is defining factor but I've also:
- cut out all fizzy/carbonated drinks
- eat at set times and sensibly - e.g. No spicy foods
- don't eat any chocolate at all
- get a decent nights sleep
- take one 600mg calcium and 1 strong probiotic tablet with evening meal.
- drink plenty of water or diluted fruit juice
I would certainly recommend the calcium, seems to be several articles online that say it's great. Hopefully this may help someone else!
Soooo happy or you, Dorset. Good news. Plus, thanx for the tips on diet changes. Be well.
Reducing stress definitely helps IBS along with diet change if necessary. I haven't needed to change my diet at all. The major factor for me is trying to keep my stress levels at bay.
What i would ask is with ibs d does anyone else struggle with flair ups if they know mentally that they are going somewhere without a toilet? I seem to struggle with this still to a degree
Try one Imodium if you know you are going somewhere without a toilet.
I would try one to start with so you don't bung yourself up too much. See how you feel. Everyone is different. Take more if necessary.
I am not allowed to take Immodium due to a Long qt syndrome but I would just ring the pharmacist and enquire about increasing/decreasing the dose if I were you.
Oops that sounds good! You missed the stress-factor, it makes ibs much worse.
