hi guys.. I posted once about this but it’s got me feeling all sorts of bad ways. I had a ct scan done with contrast 2 days ago. I had really bad reaction right after ward. Nausoues and chest pain. Er doc said that’s normal. But when I googled it... I see that you can actually get an air embolism from this! I’m totally scared and want to get checked at the er but since it’s been 2 days... you would think Id be dead by now? It doesn’t help I have extreme health anxiety... especially with embolisms. Please help!
If you had a CT scan with a reaction from the contrast, I would put that in your records as an allergy to contrast dye and not have one with contrast again. I would consider the symptoms you had a reaction to the dye and don't know why the doctor told you it was normal???
I'm not too familiar with the contrast dye side effects, etc. But I believe any embolism, as you stated, is not something that would show up days later. For ex: a pulmonary embolism (blood clot travels to your lungs) happens immediately and you need to be rushed to hospital ASAP or you can die. It's not something that would take days to manifest.
Sounds more like you just had a bad reaction to the contrast. I would do as Celia9050 said and make a note that you may have an allergy to that stuff.
Perhaps he was trying to reassure her.
