I had ankle replacement surgery 10 weeks ago and the incision is still white and oozing. I've been told that this is normal for where the incision is.
My doctor says this is normal, but I'm not convinced. Has anyone else experienced this situation?

Dear Gigi
I can only speak for myself and from what I know from a different ankle discussion list I've been on for many years and I would say that this oozing is very usual. I would be very concerned as to what is causing this and would want to take action without delay.
Good luck, Richard
That seems like a long time for the incision to heal to me. Has the doctor actually seen it? Where exactly is the incision? Are you weightbearing?
I never experienced any oozing, I don't know if it's normal. I cleaned my incision with Hibiclens anticeptic solution and it has healed nicely. Does it look like it's healing and staying closed?
Good luck
Hi Nancy!
My doctor has seen it and continues to tell me this is normal for where the incesion is.
The incesion is on the middle of the foot going up toward the tibia. And I am NWB.
Hi Richard!
Thank you for your response. I am making an appointment tomorrow with a wound specialist.
Hi Machelle,
The wound has healed a lot, but it's not entirely closed. I sent pictures to my doctor yesterday and he said it's not infected but called in a prescription of Levofloxacin 750mg.
Excellent, hope there is a swift outcome because this sounds wrong to me but I'm not a doctor just a patient who has been cut open a number of times! Good luck, Richard
Thanks Rich, I'll keep you up to date.
