Has anyone else been unable to bring themself to look at the incision. I keep wanting to but cannot quite do it yet. I do not know what I am afraid of.

I was fascinated with mine and, as soon as the dressing came off, I asked my daughter to take a photo - but I was raised in a 'nursing' family so we have no squeamishness at all.
Now, I look at it all the time, every night and morning when I rub the Bio oil in !!
BTW I'm 13 weeks post op
Best wishes everyone

No I wanted to see mine but couldn't reach round to see it lol but when I could look at it in a mirror, it was lovely and neat.
Did you have staples or stitches or glue ?
I had glue and dissolvable stitches inside, so it looked lovely.
What are you worried about seeing ?
Looked at mine as soon as first dressing was off also watched a you tube video of an op after mine tho .
Scar was a bit bumpy at first but smooth and pink now . 12 weeks on Thursday.
f you don't want to look don't , it's not going anywhere for a while ha haI
i had no issues with looking at mine as soon as the dressing came off, but my husband really didnt want to see it - i made him look after about 5 weeks and he hardly flinched!!!!!
I had no choice as I had to change my own dressings once I was home. It wasn't as bad as I thought now the incisions are healed even the scar is not as bad,.My surgeon did a pretty good job not making me look like I had a Framsenstein leg.
Yes me. Couldn't bear to look my daughter took the dressing off and said it looked fine. It was few days before I could look. I hate touching it too. Close my eyes when I massage cream into it. I don't know why to be honest.
i am 16 days post op and have only just had my staples removed this morning, but like you i didnt peep at my scar at any point, just couldnt bring myself too.Anyhow couldnt bring myself to look at it all day but ive just been up in the bathroom quietly and got a mirror to look .it was bigger than i expected but not terrible and i,m glad ive looked now as there,s nothing left to fear.ive rubbed it all around with baby oil mainly to clean off the sticky stuff from the giant plaster .if you can, have a peep as all your fears will then be gone but if you cant dont worry there is always another day xxxxxxx
Hi
i got hubby to take a picture after the nurse said it looked like a sad face! Was quite shocked at the size of it too. Hubby dabbing bio oil twice daily and it is healing nicely.

If you really want a thrill, watch the whole operationon on YouTube (after you have been through it, of course!)
i looked at mine as soon as the dressing was off because the District Nurse said it was the best she had seen so far. I was glued, so I had a thin red line, very neat, which is now getting pinker and not horrific at all. My daughter wanted to have a look at it at 6 weeks post op and said it looked great and she was impressed. Nothing to be afraid of.
I can just see mine by twisting round, easier in mirror bit too innocent looking for the agro after the op . Feel it should st least look like I've had a major op just a thin pink line 4 inches long!
Today I finally looked at my incision after 4.5 weeks post op. I was very happy to see how thin the scar is. My worries were for nothing it seems.
