Hi
I've been taking Citalopram for about 2 months mainly to help with a stressful relationship and a buffer against feeling like I'm about to have a breakdown, anxiety and low mood. I'm having therapy too.
I have a professional job and a family and have never taken ADs before. I dont want to feel 'spaced out' so I opted for the 10mg dose. I don't feel that different- maybe a little more levelled out. My GP has suggested an increase to 20mg but I'm a bit scared of how it may affect me. I've read that someone had a change of 5 mg (rather than 10mg) which sounds a bit more doable.
Does anyone have any experience of the jump from 10-20 mg and was it worth it?
Thanks
It worked for me.. I was on 10 for quite a while but wasn't doing very well, so they upped me to 20. I didn't get any bad effects, but I'd prob been on 10 for at least 6 mths. You can't get 5mgs, you have to cut the 10s....
I didnt feel spaced out on 20. But it did help being on them.
When I came off them, I cut the pills for 5mgs. You have to come off really slowly. A lot slower than the GP will advise....
Hi, I was taking 10mg and went up to 20mg I didn't feel the bad side effects like the start up ones. Just a headache really and feeling tired but not spaced out. It's hard to say how they have made a difference I am happier and my anxiety is slightly less.
I'd say give it 3-4 months before you start feeling anything. This medicine works real slow. Real, real slow ... but worth the wait :-)
