Hi everyone, I am hoping for some support here. I have been on citolopram for 3yrs and it managed my anxiety pretty well. I have had a difficult year, estrangement from family and financial problems and I have felt depressed. So my dr upped my citolopram to 30mg. This is is now day 7 and my anxiety has rocketed . I feel worse than before, I hAbe diazepam which I'm using to help, but this is not what I had hoped for. Will this settle down ?
I do not like citalopram...I realized after taking it for 8 years...it possibly was causing my anxiety....because a week after i stopped...I never realized that I....could RELAX.
Yes alexia it will settle down!
It's how the drug works, so just give it chance and you'll be fine. It's awful when your going through it and it seems like it's never going to end but it will. You'll be fine !
Hi Alexia
Yes this is normal With every increase you will experience side effects again and your anxiety will be heightened. It will settle down again - give it a couple of weeks. The Diazepam will help.
Going through a difficult as you've done is bound to cause an upheaval with your emotional well being. The meds increase will help, and when your difficult situation has passed you'll probably be able to decrease your meds once more.
Citalopram isn't for everyone - we all suit different SSRI's as each is tailored for our different bodies. Luckily Citalopram was good for me and helped me recover.
Wishing you well.

Thank you so much, that is reassuring😀
Thank you so much, this puts my mind at ease, I will stick with it as it has been great for me in the past. Thank you for taking the time to tell me this, it has helped so much, Alexia 😀
