I just had a colonoscopy and endoscopy done at the same time on Tuesday, with prep all day Monday. I have GAD but have had it mostly under control for about 6 months. Well, I had 2 full on panic attacks the day of the procedures, one before and one after, and have generally felt like crap because of off the charts anxiety since. I figure it's probably due to such an upset of my regular routine, coupled with the stress my body endured over the course of those couple of days. Has anyone had a similar experience after such a procedure, and if so how long did it take you to get back on track?

Did the clinics not give a sedative to calm you down befor the examinations ?. I do not know where you live so I do not know the proceedures followed.
I used to be bad, although I have been disabled for over thirty years and now they sedate and sometime I remember very little of the treatments.
At least one of the tests you had I am subjected to once a year or so and it is just one of those things that is sent to try me.
Next time ask for a light sedation and you will fel much better in yourself. Sad to say patents who go through tests can become jaded and very philosophical .
You need to get your results and move on, eventually you will forget the experiences you have suffered from.

Hi, Bob,
yes they put put me under anesthesia so I was asleep through the procedures. But it seems to have re activated my anxiety. Not sure if it's just from the upset in my normal routine, or if the anesthesia upset my brain chemistry, or what. Been struggling since having it done. I live in the US.
