Hi, I've recently been put on 100mg Sertraline (from 50mg) and though I am much more relaxed and in a better place, I feel I would be a more confident and sociable person if I were taking say 200mg. My doctor thinks I should be fine with 100mg. If I talk about increasing my dosage with my doctor, she'll think I would be too reliant on such a heavy dose. Should I just start taking 200mg anyway?
Hi Moonbeam.
What i'd give to be relaxed and in a better place. I'm not sure an increased dose will make you more confident. Please don't double the dose to 200mg, it's too much of an increase,my our need to go up to 150 first, but whatever you do please get your doctors advice.
good luck,
carol x
It's meant to Say you'd need to go up to 150mg Sertraline.
Hi my advice would be to let the 100mg work 1st it takes a while. Plus you also have to try find strength to pull yourself through too. The tablet is only a crutch to hold you up. Good luck xx
Hi moonbean
I doubt it'll make you more confident and sociable. 200mg is the maximum dose, so I would really stick at 100mg and only ask your doctor about going up in the future, only if you're feeling it sn't working well enough. These drugs work to bring you back up to a 'normal' level of functioning rather than cause 'highs' or change your personality altogether. As another post said, they are a crutch to help you through, not the answer or a quick fix. With every dose increase, do remember side effects may bother you more. Wishing you the best of luck. Have you tried other things alongside the sertraline, such as CBT or rescue remedy for anxiety?
