Indentations and Impression

Had revison surgery in 10/25/16. I been okay to say its only been a week. Anyone have the problem were you are lying down in bed and you are forced to change positions becsuse you are getting the indentations and Impression from the sheet your laying and its painful to touch due to the lines the sheets have made down the side of my leg.

Dear Young knee

I am very interested in your progress, as I will have revision due to the implant not being straight.

Wher did have surgery, I live in London.

All the best to you, keep well and pain free as much as it is possible.

best wishes

Grace

Hi Youngknee,

I have not had revision surgery and notvexper I experienced what you describe.

Sorry,

Alan

I am 7 weeks out today and tonight is the first night I haven' t resorted to the recliner or couch because I could not get confortable and fall asleep on the bed, and definitely could not tolerate the sheets and blankets.

Sleeplessness has been one of the worst things to deal with. Heck I am up at 4:00 am now,but happy I got 5 solid hours before the night time knee demons came to visit.

Needed heavy meds to get even a couple hours sleep the first 3 weeks. Then Advil and now just a sleeping pill

My therapist said the sleeping will come eventually. I am happy to finally be in a bed all night. 5 hours of sleeping has been an unknown since the operation.

Hi..that is called "pitting edema". Your leg must be pretty swollen and you need to be sure that you are elevating your leg when you Ice it ..and OFTEN. The sensitivity to touch gets better with time as those nerves that were cut are trying to re establish themselves. Message the area with a message oil or cream and try to lightly brush over your knee with various items like Terry washcloths to desensitize it. Unfortunately when even cold air on it gets uncomfortable, it takes awhile. Hang in there and smile at even the small steps forward.

What happened to me was a sore tail bone. Really sore. It's important to change your position every hour, and get up and move about a little.

i am having my revision soon, so i will let you know how i do. Good Luck to you

I think that any trauma to the hip/knee can cause something called distonia, it means hypersensitivity and can make even the smallest wrinkle in the sheet to feel sharp, is that what you mean, or is it like Susan said your legs are very swollen?

Hi Youngknee

It sounds like your knee is excessively swollen...elevate your leg si that your knee is above your heart and pack it in ice.

If you can get the swelling down a neoprene knee compression sleeve will help keep the swelling down. You can not use this until the stitches are out.

kind regards

judith

Yes it is very swollen and I still have the numbness so elevate and ice.
