My index value was 1.68 for my igg blood test. What exactly does that mean?

That is a low positive. I would retest at 3+ months following the last encounter you're concerned about. Which type was it for, and did you test for both types? Do you have existing Type 1 (cold sores), even if from childhood?

Tested for both types yes and had one cold sore in high school due to stress

I got a 1.38 and they told me I tested positive. Not trying to freak you out or anything. Then again it was those clinics that don't really care about the people, just the money. So I never really got seen by a doctor lol

So your 1.68 is for Type 2? Could be a low false positive caused by existing Type 1 in that case. I would retest at 3-4 months. If no real change, then I would not be too concerned, especially if you have never had any genital symptoms. If it is noticeably higher, then you are likely positive and your body is still currently producing antibodies, hence the low score now. When was your last possible exposure?

I had a positive swab beginning of January and my doctor wanted to get blood work after that

Oh, in that case, it's the second scenario. You are still developing antibodies to the infection. If you retest later, you will probably score higher. Was the swab positive for Type 2?
