The World Health Organization (WHO) strongly recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life, with other foods introduced at six months, alongside continuing to breastfeed for up to two years, or more.1 Similarly, the UK's Scientific Advisory Commission on Nutrition (SACN) recommends exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months, with continued breastfeeding for at least the first year of life.2 Breastfeeding has an important role in addressing health inequality.3
