My husband had a THR on October 14th, 2016 almost 4 weeks ago and now has an ifection in the wound. Can anyone share feedback about wound infections after THR. He saw his surgeon on Tuesday (the surgeon said it wasnt that bad) and got antibiotics, had a visit with wound care today for the 1st time, they said it is pretty bad. He is getting a second antibiotic to take and we will need to keep the wound dry and covered. No talks of having it opened or flushed have been discussed. We are very nervious because we know that infections are not good especially in this case. We would love your help and prayers.
Thanks!

Prayers going your way for your husband and you. Unfortunately I have to advice to offer. I hope he gets better soon!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🤗🤗 hugs too!! LD
Meant I have no advice to offer. Sorry 😐 🤓
I'm really sorry about the wound getting infected. Antibiotics will hopefully sort it out. Sending good wishes to you both.
This doesn't sound good at all. My surgery is on the 22nd and my dr is making me jump through a lot of hips to even do it. I had to have a dental check up to make sure I had no infection in my mouth, blood tests, physical by my dr, EKG, lung xray, urine sample...can't have any infection anywhere in your body he said it would go straight to the hip with the new joint.
I hope he does okay and heals up fast. Now they know what they are dealing with they can get the right meds to heal it up fast...you have my thoughts and prayers..
Thank you! You're going to do great, our thoughts will be with you. We are not sure exactly what caused it, but did notice that they left 2 staples in the incision for over a week.
I am sorry to hear that your husband has an infection. I have gone through this myself. My advice is to stay on top of it at all costs. Watch for the smallest changes (fever, hot feeling around scar, swelling, etc). Make sure you keep the doctor up to date as well as the nurse doing the wound care. It can be very scary to have this, but you can get through it. Don't feel like you are bothering anyone. This is important to you! Good luck!
They are putting all my stitches inside and disolving and then glueing the actual skin incision..
I am feeling pretty good about my surgery coming up right now and I hope I can stay brave!!
Thank you so much for the reply. I'm sorry you also had to go through this, I'm hoping everything went okay for you with the infection.
Thanks again!
All will be fine, it's amazing how fast you're up and moving. My husbands doing wonderful except for the infection. Stay brave!
