inflammation and hearing loss after tubes in ears surgery

For the past 2 months I've been diagnosed with bilateral ear infections, bilateral ear effusions, eustachian dysfunction and barotrauma. I had PETubes put in and lost my hearing before the tubes were inserted and now I hear even less plus I have terrible pain and inflammation and fatigue - the inflammation is not at the jaw but behind the ears and the jabbing pain is deep inside of my ears. I've had 2 ENTs look at me and neither can figure it out and one guessed at TMJ causing this now - I find it hard to believe that I am THIS fatigued with so little hearing and such pain on and in the ears from random TMJ nerves after all else that happened to me

Hi Satine, I'm just wondering if you are on any blood pressure tablets (or other pills)I have the same problem as you (nearly 4 years now) Since being on bp pills my ear plays me up almost every day of my life.  Like you I've seen specialists, waste of time, I really don't want tubes in my ear as I don't think it would help me and it's the drugs causing the problem, I know my ear will never be right again but it's the pain I hate most!! I do hope they find a solution for you.

I am not on any blood pressure pills. I am still at a loss for what to do, and now on top of it all  I officially can't collect unemployment unless I have a doctor's note releasing me from the previous one stating that I cannot work. Makes sense except I also can't file for short-term disability because I can't know this will be ongoing for 12+ months. Basically, I need a doctor to release me to work with conditions - and that means I don't have a hope to even collect anything or even work again until that's happened.

Hi Lesley can you describe in detail, your symptoms?

Hi Satine can you find an ENT who specialises in eustachian tube dysfunction in adults? I think it would be worth getting another opinion. Have you had a hearing test and tympanograms recorded? If so can you send them to me so I can have a look? It sounds like you have inflammation in your mastoid but I would have thought an ENT would have picked this up. What scans and tests have they performed and what was the outcome?
