I was just wondering if anybody could give me any information as to what kind of medication i may be prescribed for anxiety (has been with me for about 10 months)? And just wondered what kinds are usually offered, and anything i should know about it before i agree to taking anything (side effects, etc)
You should discuss this with your physician or ask to be referred to secondary services (mental health team) to explore your best options and what is best appropriate for your individual case.
Don't be so keen to start medication, you may be offered therapy which be equally effective. Or if you aren't offered it, you may want to request it. The side effects of anxiety meds can be many and unpleasant- at least initially, there are no side effects of talking therapy. The choice will be yours if your gp agrees that you need treatment
Ive been having 'therapy' for ten months now, and ive been told the best thing to do is go to the doctors, im not keen to start medication, i really dont want to, but i have been told its the best thing for me..
A therapist should never push meds, they may suggest them, but never force the issue
Therapy does take time. Just be sure it's the therapy that suits u best
