Inguinal Hernia - Post Op Recovery / Exercise?

I had larascopic surgery on a small right inguinal hernia three weeks ago today (14/06)

I feel good and am healing well.

I know want to sort out my fitness and strengthen my core and get back to fitness.

I have thought about going to see a physio in the next couple of week but beforehand, does anyone know what exercises I should avoid and what I should do over the next few months?

Feel a bit lost, I know lifting heavy stuff is out of the window but I also feel I need a plan so if you can help please let me know your thoughts and experiences? Thanks in advance

You should be so so careful.  You can cause serious damage.  Be very patient with your body.  I would definitely see a physical therapist and make sure they have experience with post-op hernia and ask them to guide your recovery plan.  My surgeon said do NOTHING for 6 weeks and then had to clear me after that before I could do any gentle stretch.  You do not want to blow things out and have to go through that again with more scar tissue and pain and it can happen very easily.

Thanks Christa. How long ago was your op? How long did things take for you to get back to normal? My surgeon said I could probably start jogging again after 3 wks but take it easy and if it tweaks stop, rest and then try again. No heavy lifting for six wks.

Your surgeon put the stitiches in so he knows your BMI and what will hold.  He knows what he is talking about.  Praying for no injuries and fast return to maximum capacity!    I had a major surgery 7 weeks ago and have complications so it is completely unique.

Thank you. I hope you a have a speedy recovery x
