Hello. I've been on Zoloft for almost 4 months (since January 20th). The first few weeks were hell. Then by week 5 I turned a corner and things finally got better. But one thing bothers me. I can sleep normally for 5 days and have trouble sleeping 2 nights a week. I take Olanzapine so that I can sleep these two nights. Over and over and over again. I had 14 nights of normal sleep at week 6 and 7. And then this. I recently switched from taking Zoloft at night, now I take it in the morning. And I still have trouble sleeping. And i upped my dose 7 days ago, from 50 to 75 mg. What can be causing this? Is it the Olanzapine, I heard that it stays in your body for some time, do I have insomnia when it goes out of my system? Is it anxiety? I am so confused....
I have not personally taken zoloft, but i do know if you have insomnia its a common side affect of zoloft. That being said, some of the worse side affects happen while taking zoloft, if you do not have enough sodium in your system. Switching the times you take it may help, but from what I have read, not in many cases. I think you need to ask your doctor for something else. If you have to take sleeping pills to go to sleep because of the side affects of zoloft, it hardly seems worth it to me. If it were me, I would be on the phone with whoever prescribed the Zoloft, saying look, this is’nt working for me, I need something else. Its not like the doctor does’nt have at least 10 other medications he could choose from, to put you on, that wont affect you the same way as Zoloft. There comes a point when you can only take so much before its time to call it quits, and I think you have reached that point and been more than tolerant with your doctor, because I would be screaming and yelling at him for giving me sleeping pills to counteract the zoloft when he could have started you on something else by now. Is your doctor getting kick backs from the zoloft company vendor ? Anyway, that’s my suggestion. Hope you feel better.
The dose have not adjusted by system yet.
