Insomnia

Who has suffered with it and how long did it last?  What did you do for it.

thks

hi I have had insomnia for nearly 13 years now...I take regular sleeping medication which works very well for me ( it's different for different people) you can try over the counter meds first but if they aren't working then it's worth asking your doctor to advise you what is good for you.

What is in your journal?, not doing one then naughty Lynda 😀 note sleeping habits, try relaxation and see if there is an improvement. You are doing so well let's keep that motivation going. Strong, inner strength, determined and zzzzzz tired big hug 💙🙏

Hey, insomnia is just killer isn't it? I've suffered for years but I am scared of sleeping pills due to my excessive anxiety about pretty much everything soooo.... This has what's worked for me recently. I take a shower before bed, a hot one so I get all warm rather than awake. Then drink camomile tea, go for a wee then go to bed whilst it's still light because the dark makes me panicky. (Haven't figured out what I'm gonna do in the winter). I have an app on my phone called Rain, Rain which basically plays different rain noises. I put that on and try to drift off. Takes me a little while but it's been working enough to send me off to sleep by 11pm and not wake up til 4am which is an absolute breakthrough for me! It's a bit of a funny process but perhaps some of that could help you??? Good luck babe! Xx

Hi insomnia is awful isn't it?  I used to sleep like a baby until around 7 years ago.  then I started waking up half a dozen times in the night then eventually found it hard to even get to sleep.

I went to the doctor about it to ask for sleeping pills, but he said they rarely give those out now,  thrust some sleep leaflets in my hand,  and called me an 'Uptight person'.  How nice - not!

I didn't realise at the time that I was suffering a recurrance of my depression and it had got quite bad.  Insomnia can be a symptom of depression.  Eventually I went back to a much nicer doctor who diagnosed me and put me back on ad's - mirtazapine.   These didn't help so she gave me sertraline which I am still on,  but also a low dose of mirtazapine at night to help me sleep.   I still suffer some insomnia but it is a lot better now thank goodness.

Hope this helps.  Bev x
