I’m new to this site and I’m sorry if this is not the place to ask. English isn’t my first language.
Recently I discovered I have this very intense fear every time I see people I know in public or even social media. I was trying to set up a Facebook account today and seeing the “People you may know” tab almost made me have a panic attack. I’m so confused about this.
I usually don’t have a lot of problems with social situations, I’m just a little shy around new people. People I know on the other hand, just make me extremely nervous. My body pressure lowers, I start shaking a bit, trouble breathing… I have even considered moving somewhere else just so I never see anyone I know ever again.
I was diagnosed with anxiety when I was around 12 but I didn’t continue therapy to actually get treated or anything.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is this just what anxiety is like? Are there ways to make it more manageable? Preferably not therapy, unless it’s my only option…
I have had an issue with a fear of not recognizing or forgetting my family but it is getting better.
I think it must be anxiety but do not take my word for it, as I am not a professional, just had similar experiences. It must be some sort of social anxiety so you should be good, just check in with someone who knows more about it, it may be something from your past that you did not deal with that haunts you.
Hope you get better, please do update us with your progress!
anxiety does crazy things to the brain. I would definitely suggest that you speak with a counselor because they can help you sort this all out. if you can, stay with the counselor for an extended time because it’s definitely very beneficial! It sounds like you have a long term anxiety and need help and support in managing it . it’s difficult to manage anxiety on your own. Many times the counselor can give you suggestions and ideas that you haven’t thought about that would really help.
the more you relax your mind the less you will have this happen. there are some good talks on YouTube about managing anxiety and some great meditations to relax. There is one called the anxiety guy which is helpful. but for long-term management, it’s good to get a check up with your doctor and depending on things, you may even need a medication to help you.
so, in the meantime practice some of the relaxation methods on YouTube, listen to some talks on anxiety and panic,. take one day at a time. I do hope you feel better soon.
