Internal stitches forming a 'web'?

The cobweb...

Hi all...had my 6 week post-op yesterday after anterior and posterior repair.

Bladder good, bowel good, external stitch line good.

Internal exam revealed the bladder repair stitches and bowel repair stitches had 'melded' together to form a 'web' at the top of the much reduced vagina. It accounted for all the pelvic pain I've been having.

The examination of the 'web' was very painful.

I was told that the 'web' could be cut through to separate it - with help from a local anaesthetic.

I couldn't face that yesterday - so I came hope with a vaginal dilator which I have to use to try on separate the web at home in conjunction with inserting oestrogen cream.

I have to go back in 3 weeks.

Has anyone had a similar problem?

Any advice will be much appreciated....thanks

I had a bladder prolapse surgery done 3 months ago Everything is okay now but it was a very long recovery for me I'm just really surprised they did an internal exam that soon I just had my internal exam done last week Going on three months almost I mean they try not to go in as much as possible if they don't need me Most if I had any complications they usually just did a urine testGood luck

Hi, G. I would request a second opinion.  My complication was the stiches were not seen and my bladder prolspsed about 4 weeks post op.  It turned out the first surgeon did an imcomplete repair.  Thank God I saw a urogynecologist the second time.  He disagreed with the originsl surgeon's approach...redid the repair, and I'm fine.  I'll pray for you to make the right choice.  Dorothyx

Thanks for your reply -it is much appreciated. After yesterday's exam, the pain is worse than it was after the op

I'm going to see my Doc to check out this situation ASAP. x

Hi Dorothy, thanks so much for replying - it means a lot.

Making an appointment for my Doc  - she is lovely and got me sorted after I picked up a urine infection after being discharged from the hospital with a catheter in situ on day 2.?!?

Hope things improve asap x

Hi Gnomebottom,

Sorry to hear you are suffering at the moment, what a nuisance. Hope you feel better soon, if it's really sore go back to doctor. Let us know how you get on. X

Rang Dr who advised me over phone. Will call hospital tomorrow and ask to go in to have the procedure done after I used the oestogen cream for 7 nights. She hopes the cream will ease the stitches/ pain in the meantime. Thanks for replying and hope you're doing well? x

I'm ok thanks. You look after yourself. Xx
