Internal vibration sensation - caused by stress??

i also had to change my diet. there are certain foods that ease anxiety: yogurt and green tea are the best. i had to cut out caffeine, alcohol, sugar, fat, spicy, and salty foods. now that i have reintroduced foods, sugary soda and alcohol seem be the hardest to reintroduce.

i was also only getting 5-6 hrs of sleep at night and under a tremendous amount of stress. the fast heartbeats/buzzing/heart palps have also been changing over time for me, too. I feel like i am getting better, but its still there every day and night. its been 9 months so far.

Hi.

sorry for jumping into this thread but I have started having all the symptoms you mentioned since the 3rd December.

I’m 39 and i started to get occassional body twitches in random parts of my body. I also have weird sensations like numbness although I wasn’t completely numb in my hands, cheeks and forehead. I had pins and needles also in random parts of my body and I’ve had a stiff neck and dull ache in my middle back for a few weeks that comes and goes.
I started the internal vibrations on the 3rd of this month and it started in my upper right arm and then over the course of a few days was everywhere. I experienced it mainly in bed and it stopped after about 1 minute of lying still. if I moved It would start again for another minute or so and then stop. some days it horrible and other days its hardly there.
when I try to explain it to anyone they look at me like I’m crazy and my wife can’t feel anything when I say I’m vibrating.
last night I could hear the vibrating in my ears when lying in bed which was horrible.

doctors don’t seem to be too bothered by it. I had full blood test done and all came back fine and I have referred myself to a neurologist who says all is OK from his examination and I had a head and full spine mri last week and awaiting results from that. awful time waiting as a lot of these symptoms are very worrying and if you were to Google any of them, you basically have a disease that will lead to a shorter life.

Nice to hear im not alone with this.

Adam

I experienced the same thing and so did my sister, it is related to mental health. Well it might not be, but you may need to explain things with your mental health team or doctor. All the best.

Hi Julie4971, I’ve been experiencing vibrations much like Sally4edgar. You mentioned that it could be menopause related and you’ve joined FB group related to it. which one is it as I may join, as I’m still in the throws of trying to get to the bottom of what’s causing this sensations. I remember i did mention it briefly to my doc before about what could be causing it n it was brushed aside.

And yours have stopped?? What helped you and your sister?

I too have had this happen to me, mine was after a breakup. I was in bed and was already asleep then I woke up to heavy vibrations in my body. It scared the heck out of me, however with stress reduction ended all that…

Glad I found your thread. 44yo Male. All my symptoms started about a month ago. I do illustration for a living and stayed up very late finishing a job. The next morning, my buzzing shoulder woke me and over the next week, numbness and pins/needles developed in the same arm (my drawing arm.) Originally, I scheduled a neuro doc to check for carpal tunnel (appt is in the coming weeks,)but in the mean time, I’ve developed an internal buzzing in my upper torso. My wife can’t see any external tremors, but for me, it feels like I’ve been hooked up to live wires. This feeling can be in my shoulders, scapula and be felt bilaterally across the top of my back. The numbness and pins/needles is my drawing arm are still there but not as pronounced as the buzz in my upper back/shoulders.

Wife thinks it’s a combination of bad posture from drawing anxiety and tbh, I’m pretty anxious NOW after all this.I DEFINITELY have bad posture while drawing but Before these jitters, I thought I was a pretty chill guy (thought being a full time Mr.Mom of 2 kids and working is tough). Good sleep is just so hard to come by as I’m awakened each night with this buzzing/chilliness across my upper torso.

Recently, I got my bloodwork back which showed very low vitamin B12 and D levels. I’ve started taking supplements just this week of both

My uncle currently has ALS and his side of the family has lots of autoimmune diseases (RA, MD, Type 1 diabetes). My Dad passed away years back (around the same age as my uncle w/ ALS) but he didn’t have any neuro issues that I knew of.At this point, I’ve freaked myself out thinking I have ALS. Ugh.

Thanks for listening

hey Sally!

so over the past couple of weeks ive been having this weird shaking feeling as well. its so hard for me to explain it because its a weird feeing like my muscles are weak. ive not seen a primary care doctor yet but i have been to the ER twice and the first time they prescribed me with some anti anxiety medication. the second time they literally said nothing was wrong with me. both times they felt like blood tests were unnecessary. At some points i feel fine and other times i feel like i could pass out or fade away. its very odd and i based on your experience j dont have the money to waste for them to not care.

Oh i could have written this
I had a liver transplant 6 years ago and twice now i have felt awful each time my magnesium drops to bottom end of normal and white cells drop slightly too
Been feeling off for two weeks now. 111 suggested A&E as it sounded like low magnesium again
But the tremors and internal vibrations are still there after taking suppliments
I’m under a lot of stress with a lot including medical issues such as kidney stones resulting in two lithotripsy treatments and its still not gone
Heart pains resulted in ct scan which is clear but found a lung nodule
So stress levels soared
Main symptoms are buzzing in feet, weakness and tremor in arms and legs and general fatigue
I’m petrified of what nodule is and just had enough of feeling rubbish
Had MRI last March due to weird itching and pin pricks on body which showed thinning of white stuff in spine but nothing else
Just been for a walk mind and do feel a little better so i presume its anxiety
How do you feel now?

I am not sure how to reply to the whole thread, so I chose a random comment to reply to.
I developed a vibration, mainly in my torso, this past November 2020. I had never experienced it before but it was bad enough to wake me at night. So I’ve really only had the vibration for the past 3 months or so.
Anyway, somewhat by chance, I had an endoscopy scheduled for my relentless random acid reflux. The gastroenterologist did not find anything unusual to cause the reflux but he did find that I had H PYLORI bacteria in my esophagus.
I have no idea how long I’d had it, but I don’t think for long bc I had unusual aggravated lymph node symptoms under my armpits only since about September 2020, which is when I think I contracted the H PYLORI.
Anyway, long story short. I took 2 weeks of antibiotics to kill the H PYLORI mixed with acid suppressor and voila, no more vibrations.
I looked it up, H PYLORI causes system wide inflammation that can manifest in a variety of ways from one person to the next.
Getting rid of H PYLORI is a whole process but I’m glad the first round of antibiotics took care of the vibrations. I’m not sure the h pylori is gone, since you have to wait about 2 months to retest. I will retest at the end of March 2021, so we’ll see.
I hope this helps everyone in this thread. NB, if possible, get an endoscopy to get a biopsy (tissue sample) of your esophagus or stomach. I know your doctor will insist that a stool test will be sufficient to test for H PYLORI but that is the least reliable test. Go for an H PYLORI breath test if you can’t get an endoscopy!
And when you retest after antibiotics, also insist on getting another endoscopy! You need to get rid of the H PYLORI, it can lead to serious neurological issues.
Hope this information is helpful. Good luck to you all.

I forgot to mention. I read on an H PYLORI thread that when you test for H PYLORI, do not take any PREbiotics or PRObiotics for at least one week prior to your breath test or endoscopy. They can cause false results.
I’m not sure if prebiotics includes prebiotic foods (garlic, bananas, ACV, etc ) not just prebiotic supplements, so I will avoid those as well before my next H PYLORI test.
All the best.

One more thing! H PYLORI is contagious through saliva as well as other ways. If you’ve had it for a long time, you may have inadvertently passed it on to family and friends. So if you hear a friend complaining about weird symptoms maybe let them know you have/had H PYLORI so they can get tested. All the best.

Please get tested for H Pylori. H pylori caused me awful vibrations until I took antibiotics to get rid of it. But it’s not easy to get rid of. Also, go the extra length and get a biopsy of your stomach or esophagus, the stool test is not as reliable. Good luck!

I had vibrations in torso and numbing everywhere. Very terrifying. Anyway I actually found that I had H Pylori in my esophagus and took heavy duty H Pylori antibiotics plus acid repressor for two weeks and the vibrations are gone and the numbing has lessened and is more infrequent. Please get yourself tested through a biopsy of stomach or esophagus; the stool test is not as reliable. H Pylori can cause long term neurological issues and diseases if not eradicated. So if you need to go through three rounds of antibiotics, that’s what you need to do. Good luck.

This is the link for the H PYLORI forum that is up to date and very informative.
Notice that the people on the H Pylori forum complain of “tremors” or “shakiness” or chest “gurgling”. They’re all referring to the same vibrations that we are discussing on this forum, but just aren’t using the same term.
Anyway, hope everyone can heal and feel better. It’s a long-ish road to recovery but I promise you you’re not crazy, you’re not alone, and you will get rid of it and recover.

I too have started having invisible internal vibrations about a month ago. At first I thought, is there a car running in my driveway? Nearby neighbor? No. Was that road traffic? No. They are building a school 12 blocks from my home so, I thought is it that? I even drove over there. No.

I don’t drink coffee so it can’t be caffeine.

I even thought to get a ground vibration detector. Maybe it was inside the earth or perhaps some industrial company afar. I put a bottled water on my end table and I could see the water inside moving. So, I thought for sure it was something in the ground that was vibrating my house causing me to feel the vibration. I still think that sometimes.

I went from room to room and I felt the vibration. I went to different locations in my yard and stood still and still felt the vibrations.

But anyway, it is me. I brought that same bottle of water up to bed put it on my night stand as I felt the internal vibrations. The water didn’t move.

I have Systemic Erythematosus Lupus, and it’s cronies, like Fibro and Sjogren’s.. so, I have a tendency to think everything evolves around that.

I have seen my primary doctor. I will do lab work this week. She is testing for magnesium and B12 deficiency. Have you had your blood work done for those? And from there a referral to a neurologist.

Other test she is doing are vitamin D12 hydroxy, folate, comprehensive metabolic panel and then my usual lupus blood work.

Have you ever had a DEXA for osteoporosis done? I was reading deficiency in magnesium affects the calcium in our bones which leads up to osteoporosis, which I do have. If my doctor’s had been on the ball and figured it out, the drugs I take for lupus could cause osteoporosis, and if I was tested earlier it could have been just osteopenia and I could have turned it around. But because it’s osteoporosis there is no cure.

From my research it could be a deficiency of magnesium and B-12. Anxiety or a side effect of a drug. It could be Parkinson’s, MS or Essential Tremors.

As I type this I am having the invisible internal vibrations. It kind of reminds me of a refrigerator running.

I hope you had found answers. Nothing worse than having a health symptom and not being diagnosed. You think you’re crazy, you begin to doubt yourself. You think everyone thinks you’re a hypochondriac. I know that feeling all too well because it took doctors seven years to diagnose my lupus.

Keep looking for your wellness.

so interesting to hear. i have internal vibrations in the middle if the night too. they are faint and not visible externally. i have low stress, physically fit, and regularly take b suppliments. i am 58 too.
i do have neck issues that used to cause stiff neck. i started taking magnesium and it resolved that near perfectly. ( thus the start of b suppliments) .
i dont have anxiety or any palpitations though.
have you found out anything more?
