I just got a diagnosis of intestinal metaplasia. No Hpylori, but severe GERD. Kind of freaking out here. How bad is this? Has anyone had this long term without developing cancer? is there anyway to reverse it? Below are my results

FINAL DIAGNOSIS:

A: Stomach, antrum, biopsies: Benign fragments of antral-type mucosa. Focal reactive gastropathy. Focal intestinal metaplasia. Minimal chronic inflammation. Negative for Helicobacter organisms by conventional stain.

B: Distal esophagus, biopsies: Unremarkable fragments of squamous mucosa. Glandular mucosa not sampled.

C: Mid esophagus, biopsies: Unremarkable fragments of squamous mucosa. Glandular mucosa not sampled.

Lots of unremarkable a findings and sign of minor esophageal irritation .mredlux watched with meds have helped put mine in remission and No longer suffer from reflux. Be sure to follow doctors instructions and eventual the tests will show tissue back to normal after a few more months watching foods and taking meds as directed.
