irregular menses

Hi guys I'm new here and desperately looking for answers and hoping to get one.I'm 20 years of age, started my periods when I was 13 and everytime I went on my periods they lasted 6 days maximum.Ever since I started being sexually active I haven't used any contraceptive pills or injections whatsover.I've been having irregular menses recently and the blood is really coming out heavily and the days of lasting are also expanding the previous periods lasted for 9 days and I'm still having period pains even when the bleeding stopped. When I first went to the clinic they didn't tell me the cause they just gave me contraceptive pills but the bleeding went on and on...I'm really worried:'( cos even last month I went every week of the month until yesterday... the main reason why I joined this group is to get a different perspective..

Our bodies change yearly especially with periods. Don't panic. You may have developed a uterine fibroid that is causing your period to get longer and heavier.

Usually when you first go on the pill you bleed for about a month. After this your body regulates itself and your periods get lighter and are more regular.

Our bodies change our periods for no reason, what may help you is mefenamic acid and tranexamic acid tablets from your gp they help with the pain and the heavy flow.

The length of a period can also vary, when i was on bc i was 7 days and now i am not on anything it is 4 which is much better!

As for the period pains that is normal before and after your period as i get pains like that mostly a week before and a few days after. oh the joys of being female!
