I have severe Rheumatoid Athritis, and it has been well controlled on the biologic dug Barcitinib. for about 8 years. However I was recently on Apixban 5mg twice a day for a suspected Pulmonary Embolism but this was not confirmed by Ultrasound on both legs and a D-Dimer of 703 which I understand is normal for someone of my age with Rheumatoid Athritis. I also had 2 Chest X Rays which showed I had pneumonia. ( treated with 4 days on Doxycycline
Now, about 4 + weeks later I am getting a great deal of extreme pain and stiffness in all my joints especially in my hands, which are almost unusable. Can anyone relate to this ? I am certain the culprit is the Apixiban as I have never had a problem of any kind with Barcitinib.
Have I been overmedicated for a Pulmonary Embolism which I actually never had in the first place……am I on too high a dose, ( I am 77)..or was my Consultant just being over cautious? Either way I can’t continue with this dreadful pain, which is affecting all my joints.
