Hello, I have a long history of ovarian cysts. It seems to be getting worse the older I get..(now in my 40s). I had an operation when I was 13 yrs old to have cysts removed. I have recently started getting pain, swelling, bleeding post intercourse, back pain and now my cocyx is sore.
Does anyone else experience bleeding? as doing a quick internet search it is flagging up cancer and now I am a little freaked out! I have got a scan booked for 2 weeks time. Also, is it normal for the pain to get worse the older you get?

Hi Siobhan i had a similar thing with pain getting worse i went to the docs andd she said said it should be getting better as you get older so she sent me to have a mri scan and it turned out to be a very large cyst.I went into hospital on the 12th Sep to have a full abdominal htsterectomy so hopefully i will be fine now.Obviously am still in pain after my op but it will get better each.Hope this helps,and you shouldnt google things like that because it will always scare the bloody life out of you
Thanks Julie, the GP always is in a massive hurry due to the 8 mins consultation time and 90 secs she has to write up her notes..well thats what she tells me. I moved surgery and area and she didnt have the time to look in my notes to find my earlier referal to Gynae. Feel a little frustrated and let down really as she has sent me for a scan to restart the process. I am sure it would only take 10 minutes or so just to read through my notes.
A hysterectomy sounds extreme and painful. Hope you are on the mend now. Thank you for the reply
is there another gp in the practice that you could ask to see? some are better at listening than others
