is costochondritis always painful

Hi, can anyone with this condition that has it mild tell me what it is like, mine is not so much painful, but achey, dr says costo, but everyone on here says very bad pain, I am confused, don't even feel like I can go back to the drs as I have been so many times and get the same answers with no real help, no testing nothing, I am so tired all the time, x mine is uncomfortable just off to the left of center of breast, when pressing it is uncomfortable but my lower ribs at the edges feel strange too, 8 9 10th ribs, feel like I will never get to the bottom of why I feel so crap x

Hey there. Mine is the same. Not very painful rather unconfortable and CAN be painful when I over exert myself. I have had an EKG and ultrasound. I have Meloxicam as an anti-inflammatory. It helps a lot when I'm in mild pain. If I do too much in Pilates or yoga then it only helps marginally. We should be thankful our aren't as bad as I've on here! Your symptoms sound similar to mine. Try ice packs and ask about Meloxicam. Good luck!

Thank you for getting back to me shanna, I have not had any further testing even though I keep going to the doctors, I also have pain in my breast as well sometimes, and still no further testing is done, sick of these drs x

I had a little ache or niggle inside my left peck right where ny my sternum meets it about half way up for about 3-4 weeks, its now blown up into full on costochondritis! The flares are unbelievably bad, try treat yours before it gets worse I wish I never left mine so late

Thanks for your reply adam, I have had this ache for so long now and have no idea what to do, when i try to do any upper chest exerises i get a heavy ache in my chest area like pressure building, but get nowhere with drs x

Take it easy I tried to exercise and it made it worse! Anti inflammatorys help but I wouldn't take anything until you consult your doctor!
