Is having light and dark brown stool normal?

Hello to everyone

I have been to the doctors twice now about blood in my stool in the past. I was really worried and thought it was cancer or something, but im 18 years old and the doctors said I was very healthy so they didn’t assume anything serious. Im pretty sure the blood did come from anal fissures, because there was a sharp pain when i used the washroom, and bumps or nicks around my anus. I use to have hard stool in the past, but I started drinking more water and not holding in the urge to go, so they haven’t really happened any more, and there has been no bright red blood. However sometimes my stool comes out as a light and dark color, and that has been the case for years. I saw things online about dark stool being dried blood, and I have been really worried now. Im not sure if having two colors is normal, because sometimes my stool is mixed light and dark brown. Im kinda worried, that this could be colon cancer. Im not sure if my stool is normal. A response would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Stools are dark brown because bilrubin makes them that way, However, if your stools are black and tarry, that could be a problem. There is a difference between dark brown and black. Stools can come in all shapes, colours and sizes. Listen to your doctor who told you were very healthy and was not concerned. Your doctor would have referred you for tests had he suspected anything serious. He has not done this, so this is good news for you.
