Is it an ulcer of stomach cancer

I have had on and off for some years pains in stomach but they went away. Now I have had pain in the upper stomach, indigestion, some missed heartbeats and a cough for 4 weeks. The pain and discomfort only go at night......so I am worried as all the symptoms can be an ulcer or cancer. I am having an endescopy but not till well after xmas......and I worry that time is creeping on. I am over 60 so am a higher risk...does anyone have the same experience?

You are fortunate that the pain goes at night. With many people it worsens when laying down. Are you on any medications that could have side effects? Most meds can cause stomach problems.

Do let us know how your endoscopy goes. It may prompt more replies.

Hi

It is now January and have had an endoscopy and CT scan... The endo.... seemed fine so no ulcer....,but still not eating much and lost quite a lot of weight...already thin build so not good.....am waiting for results of CT scan ..... i have a feeling it is the pancreas or gallbladder. Starting to feel tired after nearly 9 weeks not eating much!

Hi Val, how are you now? We are in a similar situation. I started with headaches and stomach and sometimes a cough (but that can be side effects of medicines). I find the pain and discomfort seem to lessen through the day and can go away for a bit and then come back. Always worst first thing. Am waiting for an endoscopy and very worried and anxious. Am 57. But for now I feel better when I read about cancer and it says that it is usually men, usually those on a poor diet, drinkers smokers etc. I read through this usually list and none of it applies to me. The list of the symptoms for those who have it early is helpful and if it is in it's early stages then it is far easier to sort out.
