:?
been told i may have fibro by a neurologist but my own gp has never even mentioned it to me. Suffer chronic pain, chronic fatigue etc etc. Had 2 major spinal surgeries, have 2 frozen shoulders, being tested for Crohns/Ulcerated Colitis - oh the joys...
Hi Lorraine
All we want is answers so we can get on with our lives. I think you need to list down all the sypmtoms you have on a dailly basis as a diary and take it along with you to see your gp. If you have it written down you won't forget to mention something and your gp will be able to see from that what is going on. He will probably do some blood tests first to rule out other conditions that are similar like chronic fatigue syndrome and ME etc. Once he has done these tests and they all come back negative he will probably send you to see a rhematologist. The rheum will check for pressure points on the body. There eighteen they check for and if you have 11 and over will poss mean you do have fibro.
Why are they checking you for crohn's/colitis? My daughter suffers with crohn's so i do know about that condition! Do you get a lot of upset tummys and go toilet a lot. You can have irritable bowel with fibro as that is one of the conditions and keep going for a wee a lot another one.
I have irritable bowel and had that diagnosed before they said I had fibro.
Also had irritable bladder which is another thing to do with the fibro but yet again no one picked up on these conditions. I was always tired and put that down to having had my thyroid removed due to cancer. Yet another condition of fibro. No one seem to take any notice what was going on with me.
I go see your gp and take it from there. I do hope they listen to you. Any questions you want answered or advice come back on here and I am sure one of us on this site will help and support you.

Hi Lorraine,
It took me over a year before I got recognition and as I saw seven specialist only three believed I had fibro that is why I became a Support Group leader and most of my members have had the same trouble....... most Doctors do not believe in fibro as probably as they do not know enough about it.......... Research is still being done
As Di says we are all welcome so please feel welcome to join our forum......... I am very fatigued today so got no energy, take care everyone and gentle hugs to all in the forum xxxx
