Is it okay to have sex without a condom if she is on the Pill??

Hey guys,

So me and my girlfriend have recently started having sex. We are both our first sexual partners and are twenty years old. Originally, I would try and use condoms but had a few problems with them such as lack of sensitivity, incorrect sizing, uncomfortable, PA etc.

So she has decided to go on the contraceptive pill and has been on it for awhile now. She is very disciplined and takes them every day. We had sex the other day without a condom and everything went well.

My question is this. Is it okay to not use a condom when having sex since she is on the pill?? And what are the chances of her becoming pregnant in this situation?? (Bearing in mind that she makes sure to take the pill everyday)

Thanks smile

It should be OK but if she forgets a day then you may have problems and need a morning after pill. Make sure you are discussing this with each other in order that there are no mistakes.

The pill is more effective than condoms at preventing pregnancy (though condoms are much better at preventing STIs).  You have to rely on your girlfriend taking it, and not just telling you she's taking it, but the pill is very effective.  I think most young couples in monogamous relationships (who are having sex, but don't want children) use the pill rather than condoms - some use both.

I'm surprised you've had problems with condoms btw.  Maybe you just needed to find a different kind.  What did you mean by "PA"?
