Is it possible to be HIV?

Hi everyone,

As you can tell by the title, my question is whether I have HIV or not (although I don’t think that’s the case, but the thought to have it is just not giving me peace).
My last time (without protection) was maybe 2 months ago, and I haven’t felt anything unusual until about a week ago. The first two days were the worst. It started with chest and muscle pain, dizziness, disorientation, nausea, light fever etc. Of course I went to the hospital, but even after multiple examinations, the doctor wasn’t able to give me a diagnosis and says that everything looked normal. It just looks like nobody’s taking me seriously.
Anyway, the worst part was over after the first two days. After that, all that remained was tiredness and weakness that only appeared after I go for a walk and return home. However it goes away after I take ibuprofen, resulting in a lot of sweating. But it helps.
Right now I feel completely normal, but I don’t know if the same thing won’t happen again if I go out and come back home.
One of my assumptions (which I hope is true) is that it’s due to the unusual weather here in Germany. Especially since my mother seemed to have the exact same symptoms at the same time as me.
If there’s more information I should provide, let me know!
Thanks in advance!

Hi and thank you for sharing your experience. Unfortunately, HIV symptoms are so unspecific that the only sure way to know if you have it is to get tested, as scary as it may sound. After 2 months you should be well out of the window period (40 days for 4th generation tests) and if you get tested for STDs via blood sample the result will be final. Here in Italy it is possible to get tested anonimously and for free, as I am sure that’s the case also for Germany.

Or, if you do not feel comfortable about that, you can buy a kit for home testing on amazon or in any pharmacy. It’s very easy to use and you’ll get your results in about 15 minutes. The downside is that they cost about 20-25 euros and you need to wait 90 days from exposure to get a reliable outcome.
I know the idea of getting tested is scary (I got tested last week myself), but it is really the only sure way to know if you have something!

I already gave a blood sample, tomorrow I’m getting the results. Lets see how it goes.
Thank you so much for the detailed answer, i appreciate it!

hello, if possible could you update what you found it out to be?
