I was prescribed 10mg of Citilapram back in August. After 3 weeks my doctor increased this to 20mg. I have been taking 20mg for almost 6 weeks with no problems, however the last week I have suffered with ongoing headaches, light headedness, shaking and palpitations. I'm not sure if its possible to get side effects this far down the line of if it is something else (maybe something to do with my anxiety disorder??). I have an appointment on Friday to see the doctors as its really getting me down now, especially trying to look after 3 young children and work 5 days a week! Whilst I'm waiting to see the docs, I just wondered if this has happend to anybody else whilst taking Citalopram??
Hi Anna
I wouldn't say it's totally unusual. Side effects can effect anyone at any time and you really need to give it about 8-10 weeks before you feel ok. I am at week 10 now and finally feel totally solid.
If you get to about the week 10 mark I'd say go back to the doctor as you may need to change your dose.

Hi Anna. From my experience with Citalopram i believe it is yes. My side effects wore off pretty much after a couple of weeks yet i still get waves of them every now and again.. For example i may sweat mroe for a couple of weeks and feel quite sick.... Iv been on them 3-4 years now and sometimes he side effects are worse than others but nothing i couldnt cope with..xxxx
I would say yes as although I did not with citalopram I have with other medication
