Or is it only effective for light, aching anxiety? I’ve been on venlafaxine 150mg for 6 weeks and 4 days with the only improvement being that the panic attacks have subsided. I still have a very heavy anxiety in my belly, no matter how much i exercise i can’t get rid of it. I will stay on 150mg for a few weeks more to try it out, but if it doesn’t work i am not sure if i should try mirtazapine first or do something else. I am treating GAD, Social anxiety and panic attacks.
Hi, has your doctor suggested propranolol a beta blocker?
I do take mirtazapine for stress, but I also take a propranolol alongside this. I wouldn’t start mirtazapine unless advised as hard to stop. Good luck…
Hi there. I am also on Ven 150 mg. I have been taking it daily since January 2017.
I’ve also been taking Mirtz 30 mg since November 2015.
My anxiety has subsided a lot. Of course, I still have bad days. Like anyone does. But majority of them are anxiety free. I know of the ‘heavy’ anxiety that you speak of. It’s a weighted, almost physical anxiety that is hard to shake. Of course we all have different life experiences that have caused our Anxiety and Depression. For me personally, I don’t have any positive feelings towards exercise whatsoever. But I know getting fresh air is a MUST. So I do things like DIY, painting, gardening etc. Which isn’t exactly exercise. But gardening on a hot day can work up a sweat. And is very rewarding.
Also, please remember. Medication like Venlafaxine can take quite some time to take affect on you in a positive way. For me, it took about 2 to 3 Months to completely set in.
And keep in mind that you should NEVER stop taking Venlafaxine cold turkey. This can have devastating effects on your already fragile mental health. Always consult with your doctor before stopping, starting or changing dosages.
