Is my ankle healing crooked?

5 weeks ago I rolled my left ankle, dislocating it and snapping my lower fibula. It was popped back into place in the ER that day and screws were put in a week later to hold everything together. I was X-rayed 3 weeks ago and told everything was healing properly. There has been almost no pain at all since my surgery.

Today I noticed that my lower leg/ankle seems slightly crooked, beginning right around the area where my fibula broke, pointing in the direction it broke in. Maybe it's an illusion created by muscle wastage, I'm not sure. But also the inside of my ankle features a small bony bulge just above the arch, possibly where the bones shifted inward during dislocation.

I have another x-ray in a week but I'm anxious for advice now. Is it crooked, and if so, will that likely impair the way I walk in future? Will I have to have another operation to straighten it, if that's even possible? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Can you get it xrayed tomorrow? Call in the morning and see. It's your ankle and you are stuck with what happens now to effect your future walking capability. Dr should understand the need to get it immediately xrayed. Call and good luck.

It is hard to see on the pics. Are you sure that the ankle is not just swollen?  Easy way to test is to ice and elevate your leg for a couple of hours and then take a look again. I would think that it is imposable to shift bone when it is secured by screws. You are so lucky to not have any pain. Have a speedy recovery!
