Walking with no aids and not on pain meds but extra strength Tylenol and have achiness and soreness around hip incision ..incision and scar look great just the soreness..walked 15 minutes today and no real pain... Do the PT excercises with no real pain either...Just curious.
With me, it reappeared at 9 weeks but was short lived
I think so, there are so many muscles that are involved. I found soreness and stiffness in various places at different phases of recovery and increased activity.
There are quite a few a few discussions on here about all our aches and pains, those that are to be expected and those that are not so good. Rocketman has a web page, someone who has been through it all and has gathered a lot of information in one place
I also have had on and off soreness at incision and hip area. (Tomorrow will be 5 weeks post op.) It's usually no issue early in day, but later on bothers me. I occasionally use the extra strength, too, but only 1 pill. Seems to help ease the discomfort.
I've been told and read in many places that it takes time to heal. The body does this at its pace. We just have to pay attention and do what we can, when we can. I'm being very patient. After all, no more hip pain.
With soreness at times of increased activity, were the pains sharp and acute? I have been swimming an hour a day the past couple of weeks and running thirty minutes in a shallow pool following it. Three days ago when getting in bed I got a sharp pain. I continued with my Tylenol until today. Last night I was on my feet for almost four hours. I didn’t feel like swimming today so ran for 45mis in the pool. I came home exhausted, took a nap. When I awoke, it took a bit to be mobile. Shortly after, while hanging clothes, the hip and lower back pain were so bad I took a Tramadol. The first in almost a month. I think I shall take it easy omorrow with a day of rest and just walk outside as decent weather is predicted.
Thanks for your reply. My pain and soreness is usually first thing in the morning after waking as I cannot sleep in the bed for whatever reason so in a recliner ....Then later in the day after having excercise and walked ...I am walking in the morning and evening .. Tylenol does the trick for me....Kicked those pain pills to the curb ten days ago..How far post op are you?
Yes this is pretty much my story too...Pain and soreness comes and goes .I am taking it slow too...Been dying to go to church but going to give it another week.. Grateful for online services. Yes Tylenol extra strength...kicked the pain pills to the curb.
9 weeks
Glad that this discussion has come up as I am also 4 weeks post op with the same symptoms also pain deep inside the hip joints some of the time . I use 1 crutch inside and 2 outside . Also still struggling with the leg when getting in and out of bed but walking ok .
Just keep trucking. Everyone is different and we all recover at different rates.
Thanks Ducksoup.
Hi thomas14224, I had posterior replacement and am exactly one week out and have hip soreness but have almost cut out pain meds. I don’t know what’s normal but I think I’m doing pretty good?
Thanks Ken...reading alot of these discussions and people's experience I believe it is..I too have cut out pain pills and just using Tylenol. Good luck with your recovery.m
I am 9 wks post Posterior and had pain at the incision site a couple weeks ago. Especially when I would try to lay on either side to sleep. One night while I was turning over I had something kind of pop and a pretty sharp pain from my incision site and I was quite concerned so I seen my OS. He X-rayed and said it looked good. He said it could have been a nerve or tendon stretched and popped. He said to gently massage scar area so I can get everything evened out and back in its original place. I have not had any more pain or any incision soreness since. I have had a remarkable recovery which I am very thankful for since I have another THR coming in the next few months.
