Is Temporary high blood pressure okay?

Hi all,

I am 21 years old and i am taking ritalin now for studying due to my add. I am healthy and fit but for some reason the ritalin drives my blood preasure above 140/80 and even to levels of 170/110!! I know this is bad but after i gym at the end of the day it drops back to normal levels. My question is, is it okay for blood pressure to be so high for a say most of the day? I have 10 days till my exam and after i will be stopping ritalin. Will it be okay?

I can understand you taking Ritalin to control your ADD, but having your blood pressure rise to 170/110 does sound pretty high. If that happens again before your exam, please check with your doctor, our the nurse at the doctors surgery, as to whether it is to do with the Ritalin and if they can do something about it, okay. Hi Brad

Blood pressure will naturally rise and fall over the day, depending what you are doing. Its probably not too much of a worry providing that it does not last long. What I will suggest is to see your doctor to make sure there is no other under-lining reason for this as it does seem to be high and should never be ignored.
