My 80 year Mum has suffered with brochiectasis all her life and seems to constantly succomb to one bug after another and despite many courses of antibiotics never fully recovers. Does anyone have any advice? Is there anything she can take to help build up her resistance?
Quite often with bronchiectasis there is damaged lung tissue where the antibiotic never really clears the infection and its just a matter of keeping the infection at a low level so some people take continuous antibiotics to reduce the infection symptoms. This might help
All the best
Thanks for you advice. Much appreciated.
Hi, I am brand new to the site but have been scrolling through some of the posts. If I have learned anything from this brief visit it is the advice to take Manuka Honey 10+. I can't wait to go out and get some as many patients have said they experience a lot less infections and is also possibly then helping with breathing. Hope this might help your Mother. Most reccomend 1/4 tsp twice a day.
I have Bronchiectasis and the only thing that seems to reduce my rate of infections is Manuka honey. It's not cheap, but taking two half teaspoons a day has reduced my infection rate from about ten a year to one infection last year. I think strength 15+ is what's recommended. You can get it on-line a bit cheaper.
