For the past few days, I have been feeling very off. Constant vertigo from three weeks ago, and no my abdomen is swollen and my chest is as well. I also have these AWFUL burning sensations like someone poured acid in my veins.
What I’m most concerned about is, when I breathe, it now feels like I’m taking in a lot of cool air (even though I’m not inhaling hard). It’s hard to describe, but it feels like a very cold and large inhale even though I’m not inhaling super hard. My voice is also very hoarse. I was curious as to maybe it was a ruptured trachea or esophagus so I ended up in the ER and had chest X-ray and chest and abdomen cat scan done which didn’t show anything. Is there still a possibility that I have a ruptured or hole in my throat. Or is this all anxiety?
My psychiatrist has put me back on cymbalta and Ativan to hopefully relax me, but I’m still feeling these symptoms, especially the burning. And it feels like tiny bits of water are leaking from my skin (not like sweat though). Anyone else experience this? I hope it is just anxiety because my family won’t let me back in the ER. I feel like I’m dying.
to be honest bro id go and have in depth chat with a different doctor about your symptoms. a nice cold breath sounds great to me, i wish i could that when im anxious as it always feels like i cant get any fresh air just feels like humid moist air. i doubt you have a rupture or a hole as they would of found it. where is this burning feeling you speak of.
if i was you id go back to your doctor. it may be anxiety but ask to explore other avenues and tests you can have
Yea it just feels like I’m breathing through a giant straw. When I open my mouth, a bunch of air flows in. But when I exhale, not much comes out. The burning is literally all over. Feels like acid in my veins.
If you don't feel comfortable with what you've been told by Drs so far, you can always go for another opinion etc. But if you do a bunch of tests and they come back normal, I really think this is just anxiety.
I haven't had the exact symptoms you've described but I've had sooooo many different weird physical symptoms attributed to anxiety lol. It's amazing what your mind can do to your body!! I've had chest pains, shortness of breath, vertigo, cluster headaches, muscle aches/tension, facial numbness/tension, leg and arm numbness/tingling, lump in throat, fatigue - basically you name it I had it haha. All from anxiety! And every time I get a new symptom I freak out something is wrong but luckily so far nothing has been lol. But it sure is ANNOYING.
I see a therapist a lot and it helps. I highly recommend seeing one if you haven't, I find it a lot more helpful than meds.
Yea I saw two psychiatrists today who believe it’s anxiety and put me on some meds. I’ve been to the ER 3 times this last week and had numerous of tests and blood tests done. They all came back normal except slightly elevated white blood count could mean infection. I just feel like my body is shutting down. Feels like I’m taking shallow breaths and have pain everywhere.
Just remember your mind is amazing with what it can do - in good ways and then in bad ways =/
If you've had numerous tests and been checked by Drs then it is very likely your bad physical feelings are just being caused by your anxiety.
I had a period of 3-4 months where I was having bad chest pains, it hurt so bad it was painful to even laugh sometimes. I figured anything that severe had to be something wrong, it couldn't be just anxiety. So I went and had blood work and an EKG done and everything came back totally normal. The dr explained to me how anxiety can cause many physical symptoms, like chest pains, and afterwards I felt very relieved. After a few days of feeling relieved and calming down, my chest pains were totally gone lol haven't had them since.
Try to hang in there and focus on lessening your anxiety. Meds will hopefully help get your mind straight for now and then put you in the right place to start self healing and learning to cope with your anxiety.
Thank you. I’ve been on my meds for a few days now. I guess I’m just hypersensitive to any symptom. I’m noticing changes in how I breathe and ab pain and it scares me. But the doctors are explaining that the tests would have show something but I’m worried that they missed something. Idk. I just want to feel better.
Yeah I know exactly how you feel, you hear horror stories where they misdiagnosed ppl or didn't catch something in time and then u think omg what if thats me. But my therapist always reminds me that those cases are very rare, and the odds of that happening to me are very slim. It's still hard tho to now worry about the what ifs.
Thank you. Yea, everyday it feels like a different symptom and the old symptom somewhat fades away. So I’m betting it’s just anxiety trying to throw me off.
Yep, I notice every time I get used to a symptom it disappears and a new one comes up that makes me nervous all over again lol. I'm hoping eventually I run out of symptoms to have hahaha I mean theres only so many things a body can do right?! -_-
I experience alot of the symptoms you have !!! Shortness of breath , left arm numbness pains tightness in shoulder etc but only ever have panic attack around time in on my period ???
Are your symptoms tightened during periods ???
I've had ecg echo x rays etc etc and all fine ...it drives me crazy at times 😕
So now I’m about a week into my anti anxiety meds and seeing a psychiatrist. It’s not an easy road because the phsyical symptoms are real, but I am trying to stay calm. I’ve experienced a similar thing two years ago and it’s probably just coming back since I was off my medicine for a few months.
The medicine takes a few weeks to kick in, so hopefully I start feeling better soon. But it’s relieving to speak to a psychiatrist and be assured that this is all just anxiety and will subside over time
Hm I don't notice my symptoms worse around my period, but they do get worse if I am feeling moody or if i'm lacking sleep etc. But I could see why they could get worse during a period since your body is out of whack and usually you don't feel too great with the period symptoms alone lol
Def! Seeing a therapist helped me so much. I always felt better after seeing her and just voicing my concerns and having her reassure me etc
