Is this anxiety?

For the past month, I have been feeling quite miserable.

Shaky

Lightheaded

Weak in legs

Generally upset stomach

Moments of intense panic

Trouble sleeping

Fogginess

The only thing that seems to calm me down is taking .5 of lorazepam in the morning. And then for the rest of the day I am okay.

Went to my doctor a few times now. Had an ultrasound on my stomach, full blood work up and full stool testing.

Everything is coming back normal. And everything is pointing to anxiety.

I just can’t seem to accept it in my mind. I feel like it’s something more.

I see her again on Wednesday and was hoping anyone had any other leads. Anything else I should be testing?

She wants me to go on a ssri but I’m very nervous. Hoping for some answers

I would say it’s definitely anxiety as I deal with it as well.  I would not go on a SSRI if at all possible!  They are not good and you are not depressed.  I would also be careful with the Lorazapam as it should only be used for a short time.  You can get through it with other alternatives such as CBT and therapy. Do yourself a favor and stay away from the meds if possible! Good luck to you!

Do you take lorazepam everyday ? It is addictive. I was taking 3 mg before and it took me 6 months to wean it off . SSRI is treated for depression and anxiety but you need to find the right one for you .

U defo have all the classic signs of anxiety ..trust me i know i had exact the same symptoms as u

Its anxiety plz get help ok ..thetes so much out there now ..plzz do not suffer ok ..also it wont be forever on meds just while u feel rubbish x

Yeah I am definitely VERY hesitant on taking a ssri. I’m just having a hard time accepting that it’s only anxiety and nothing more. But I feel once I can accept that, then I can start a journey of recovery. Through other means, instead of medication.

Yes. I took it about 6-7 years ago daily and became reliant. So I was hesitant to start on them again. But they are literally the only thing that gets me through the day. I have tried so many other things.

So I’m keeping the dosage small. And only doing .5 mg a day. If not any.

I tried Zoloft a few months ago. And definitely was not for me. I don’t feel like medication is the right thing for me

What are some things you do to help subside. I have had minor anxiety for the past 6-7 years and have always dealt with it fine. But never had anything like this before. So my typical “cures” aren’t working.

There are bad things about SSRI'S, eg, annihilation of one's libido, but if your doctor recommends them why not give them a try. Ask for a referral to a psychologist too.

There are different types of SSRI and you will act differently to each of them

. Lorazepam 0.5 mg a day is a very small dose. You can wean it off slowly. I guess everyone hates taking medication but if they would actually make you feel better , I think you should try. Sometimes the dr will increase your dosage and it will take weeks to feel the effect.
