is this anxiety?

can anxiety cause constant breathing problems?? I’m so scared, because every website says it doesn’t, but I’ve had my heart checked, I’ve had my blood checked,  and I had a chest X-ray. But the last time I was checked was in february. I don’t know how to explain it? It’s like shortness of breath. Sometimes my jaw and mouth feels weird, like I can’t close it all of the way. And I get scared that I’m having a stroke. I’m going to the psychiatrist Wednesday to get my meds changed because I don’t think they’re working. Please help, someone tell me you’ve experienced the same thing as me. It seems to go away when I don’t think about it, but I don’t know if it’s because I’m not paying attention to it or if it’s actually went away. I’m so scared😭😭 I’m only 15, never smoked or drank, but i don’t have a good diet. I have back pains a lot, sometimes I have chest pains, but they’re not really a pain. Someone please help me I’m so scared

Also it doesn’t get worse when I lay down, if anything it gets better.

If it goes away and comes back, that means it is survivable (if it wasn’t, it would have only happened once). This sounds a lot like anxiety - believe what the tests tell you in that you are ok also some of the pains you are describing can be very normal for puberty between ages 13-18.

I believe that if it comes and goes it sounds like anxiety. Shortness of breath can certainly be caused by anxiety. I have had anxiety all my life and do have that symptom but not constantly. Sometimes it feels like I can't take a deep breath in. Try to slow down your breathing so you don't hyperventilate and breathe with your stomach muscles not from your chest. Take a few deep breaths in, hold it for 3 seconds then let it out slowly through your lips. If you had your heart and lungs checked that's a good indication it could be anxiety especially if you say it goes away when you don't think about it. Hang tough.

Gosh on meds at the age of 15. How awful for you. Which meds are you taking and have you researched them?

How long have you been taking them for?

When did the breathlessness start was it before or after starting the 'medications'?

Take care
