IS this depression or could it be cfs

I have had ibs and now bad acid reflux and since treatment for the latter to which I reacted very badly

I have suffered with extreme debilitating fatigue but do not sleep well. Also very anxious wondering if this fatigue can be a symptom of depression or whether cfs more likely? Anyone any thoughts on this?

Hiya,

Yes fatigue could be anxiety or depression I think when we have something physical we tend to focus on that and it can make you fatigued.I have fatigue with pain and makes me depressed, just do what you can any little thing deserves brownie points.Everything can be done another day(if only I could practice what I preach I have OCD I think which makes it worse.Keep posting on here it does help let us know how you are doing.

Wish you a nice evening

Joan

Hi there depression and fatigue go hand in hand also one of the side effects of IBS is depression and anxiety along with fatigue good days and bad days just do what you can when you can and dont worry just let it come dont fight it just go with it and in time it will get better

Hi Linda, anxiety will not help your acid issue. I suppose you've tried Zantac? It works well for me and you don't need a script for it. CFS seems to be a diagnosis made when no regular cause for the fatigue can be found and so it's not very helpful. I know it's the last thing you may feel like, but if you can get up and walk in the fresh air it will help. We are supposed to get better from cfs over time, maybe years. If anxiety is troubling you can get meds to help from your GP. I take Mirtazapine and it also helps with sleep. All the best, David.

Thank yo for the helpful comments. David I do take a tiny amount of ranitidine ( zantac ) each night but I have a very low tolerance for all drugs all the ppis affected me very badly and I was only on the antidepressant

citalopram for 2 days such horrendous side effects that I stopped it.s this chronic debikitatin tiredness like

not hing I have ever experienced before. I do wnat to do things but feel physiccally incapable. I always thought the fatigue that came with depression made you want to sleep all the time mine isnt like that it

s accompanied with jitteriness and inability to relax.Sorry everyone getting more and more fightened.

Hi Linda,

Don't apologise we have all had a rant on here we all understand,it is frightening when we cannot do the things we used to and cannot really accept why.but just go with it small steps how ever small and at the end of the day think I did so and so even if it's read a book watch television.I am like you cannot take tablets I have tried them all I think the longest was a week, for some they are a God send but we are not all the same.Anyway on a lighter note did you see BGT last night if only we had the energy that lady had How Old absolutely incredible. So no more Voice and Will i am to watch not that I miss him,but each to their own.Keep on posting n here it does help.

Love

Joan

Hi linda, not to knock about zantac, but I find that Nexium helps better my GERD since I had both of them. There is also a drug called Carafate that is for Ulcers which you may find that helps. I find it works great. As far as your fatigue, There are antidepressants out there that are more lifting it you can find them. I think one of them is Wellbutrin. But I no nothing except from what I took for antidepressants. One guy was telling me he found that Adderall helped his depression and it has a "speed" effect but it is additive. But good luck, and hope you can find something.
